So I'm in a meeting this week. We're going over a new dashboard system we're working on for our doctors. When finished, it will allow them to log in to a web page and see all kinds of information about where their money is coming from, what hospitals are busiest, etc. Looking at some of the graphs, it became apparent that a very small number of our radiologists are grossing something just a hair shy of $1Million per month! That is not a typo, and the data is good. My company takes 8 percent of that, malpractice insurances takes a good chunk, and the tax bracket on that has to do some damage as well (including self-employment tax for these doctors). They have no other overhead, as they are employed as contractors by various hospitals. Even if they keep less than 1/4 of what they make, that's still more than $200,000 per month. Again, thats per month, not year. Multiply that by 12 and the annual income would be $2.4 Million. I'd like to also point out that they do nothing but read x-rays. This is a task that can now be done, and done better, by a computer.
